The Daily Catch Menu: Black Pasta and Calamari Choices

Black pasta is a category, not one sauce. In The Daily Catch’s saved selection, garlic with squid, cream with cheese and anchovy with vegetables lead to different choices before you even compare the calamari starters.

The saved live menu supports English and Chinese. Open it or visit SeEat for the app download.

Three choices beyond the black pasta color

Saved examples, not a current complete menu or favorites ranking.

Two different sauce foundations

Garlic and squid or cream and cheese

The saved Aglio Olio lists minced calamari, olive oil, garlic, Romano and parsley. Alfredo lists cream, butter and Romano. The dark pasta color does not tell you whether the sauce is cream-based.

Read past the vegetables

Anchovy and vegetables on black pasta

Puttanesca lists mushrooms, peppers and red onion with anchovy, olives and tomato. A vegetable-rich name or description does not establish a fish-free dish; confirm the full recipe.

One ingredient, different preparations

Fried or chilled calamari

The saved fried entry describes breaded squid with lemon. The salad describes chilled marinated squid. Decide between these preparations rather than assuming all calamari starters are fried.

Compare the preparation too

Calamari appears in several forms; do not choose by the shared ingredient alone.

  1. 01

    Stuffed calamari adds ingredients inside

The saved Stuffed Calamari lists pine nuts, raisins, breadcrumbs and Romano with red sauce. Ask about the filling as well as the squid before relying on a restriction.

  2. 02

A white sauce is not automatically cream

The saved White Sauce entry lists garlic, olive oil, clam juice and parsley. Read its ingredients separately from Alfredo, which names cream and butter.
