Menu decisions
What to order at Korean BBQ for two first-timers
Choose a first Korean BBQ order for two by checking the minimum, meat cuts, included sides and who grills. Keep the order adjustable to the actual menu.

Start here
First ask whether the menu is à la carte, a set or all-you-can-eat. For à la carte, meet the restaurant’s actual minimum with one or two cuts you both want, check included sides, and add rice or another dish only if needed. Ask who handles the grill.
Choices to compare
One cut both people want
Choose a familiar meat and ask whether it is plain or marinated. If you want pork belly, look for samgyeopsal; Korea Tourism Organization identifies it as a common Korean BBQ dish.[1] Choose a different meat if pork does not suit you.
A contrasting second cut, if allowed
If the minimum allows two different cuts, use the second choice for contrast: a different meat, texture or marinade. If the minimum applies to each cut, one cut in the required quantity may make more sense than doubling the order.
Sides after checking the set
Korea Tourism Organization describes grilled meat with leaf wraps and accompaniments.[1] Ask which sides, rice and sauces are included here. Avoid ordering a whole extra set before seeing what arrives.
Read portions before assuming one means one person
Ask for grams per serving and whether the minimum is per table, person or cut. A serving label is a sales unit; it does not establish that one person will be full. Start with the actual minimum if it suits both diners and the kitchen allows another round.
All-you-can-eat and fixed sets need a different decision. Confirm the items included, time window and ordering rules first. Choose a manageable first selection rather than ordering the entire list at once.
Get help with the cooking workflow
Say it is your first visit and ask whether staff cook for you or explain how to use the grill. Follow the restaurant’s instructions for the specific meat; this guide does not provide cooking times.
Keep cooking utensils and eating utensils distinct as staff instruct. Ask which sauces suit your heat preference and whether any sides contain ingredients you avoid. A plain meat choice does not establish the composition of every accompaniment.
Build your order
Suggested starting plan; adjust to the restaurant’s portions and your appetite.
- Identify the menu format and exact minimum order.
- Choose a shared cut, add contrast only if the ordering rules allow it.
- Confirm included sides and grill assistance, then decide on extras.
Ask your server
- Is the minimum per table, per person or per meat cut?
- How many grams are in one serving, and which sides are included?
- Will you grill the meat, or show us how to do it?
Before you order
Should two people always order two meats?
No. First check the minimum and serving size for each cut. A two-cut order can be much larger than expected if each cut has its own minimum.
Do we need rice and stew as well?
Only if you want them and they are not already included. Choose extras after understanding the meat and side portions.
