House of Nanking menu: compare sauces before choosing

Pork and beef potstickers have different sauces. Sesame chicken and Mogu chicken point in different directions, while house noodles and chow mein use different sauces and noodle styles. Start with those combinations, then read the full ingredients.

Three choices beyond the main protein

Compare the sauce, preparation and accompanying ingredients.

Peanut sauce versus sweet and sour

Pork or beef potstickers?

The dated PDF pairs pork potstickers with peanut sauce and beef potstickers with sweet-and-sour sauce. Choose the filling and sauce together. Steamed pork or vegetable dumplings instead name chili soy sauce; “dumplings” does not mean one shared preparation or condiment.

Three chicken combinations

Sesame, mushroom-mustard or black bean?

Sesame chicken comes with glazed sweet potatoes. Mogu chicken lists crisp chicken breast, mushrooms and spicy garlic mustard sauce. Chicken and Green Beans lists ginger soy black bean sauce. Compare those combinations rather than assuming all chicken dishes use the same sweet sauce.

Sauce and base both matter

Black sesame noodles or onion-soy chow mein?

House noodles name black sesame sauce; chow mein names thick egg noodles, seasonal vegetables and sweet onion soy sauce. Sizzling fried rice names egg and vegetables. Choose by base and sauce, then confirm any protein addition separately; the additions are not default ingredients in every dish.

  1. 01

Read proteins hidden behind the title

Nanking’s Stuffed Mushrooms names ground pork. Fish Soup also names pork wontons, and Wor Wonton names pork wontons plus clams. Mushroom, fish and soup titles alone do not tell you every protein.

  2. 02

Confirm the sauce when sources differ

The PDF pairs onioncakes with soy chili sesame sauce, while official website highlights describe peanut sauce. Ask about the current condiment instead of assuming either source always applies. Peanut and black-bean tofu are distinct sauce choices.

  3. 03

Choose yourself or ask for chef guidance

The official sources offer chef-choice ordering as an option. Tell staff what ingredients and preparations you want or avoid before accepting suggestions. The guide does not promise a fixed chef-choice menu or certify dietary safety.
