Nom Wah Tea Parlor menu: choose the filling and the format

Broth inside a dumpling or dumplings in broth? Rice rolls with shrimp or fried dough? Use those differences to choose dim sum deliberately, rather than order several names that sound alike.

Three dim sum choices worth comparing

Starting points based on the identified menu, without tasting or best-seller claims.

Choose the broth format

Soup inside or soup outside

Soup dumplings enclose broth with their filling. Dumplings in Soup are a separate dish served in broth. Check the complete protein combination: the beef dumplings in soup use chicken broth, so the beef name does not describe every animal ingredient.

Filling changes the experience

Rice rolls with a different center

The menu distinguishes plain, herb, shrimp, beef and spare-rib rice rolls, plus a fried-dough version. Choose the filling first; fried dough inside a rice roll is a different format from plain steamed rice noodles. Ask about the sauce rather than infer suitability from rice.

These are different wrappers and fillings

An egg roll or vegetable spring rolls

The OG egg roll names chicken, vegetables and mushrooms in an egg-crepe wrapper. Spring rolls have vegetables and mushrooms in a flour wrapper. Compare the full preparation if you want vegetables without the named chicken; kitchen handling still needs confirmation.

Build variety through filling and format

Compare what is inside, around and alongside each dish.

  1. 01

Separate a named filling from a mixed filling

Pork Siu Mai also contains shrimp. Steamed bean-curd rolls combine pork and shrimp, while the fried bean-curd version names shrimp and celery. Tofu skin describes the wrapper, not a meat-free filling.

  2. 02

Read the vegetables and sauce together

Turnip cakes contain Chinese sausage and dried shrimp; XO adds pork and shellfish in the sauce. Stuffed Eggplant contains shrimp paste. For greens, ask about the actual oyster sauce ingredients rather than assume the vegetable headline is enough.

  3. 03

    Choose the sweet filling separately

Phoenix buns have yolk filling; lotus and red-bean buns offer different sweet centers. Sesame balls add another dough format. Decide which filling you want before choosing a generic bun name; availability can change.

Before choosing Nom Wah Tea Parlor

Does “soup dumpling” mean a bowl of soup?

Not in this menu distinction. Soup dumplings hold broth inside; Dumplings in Soup are served in chicken broth. Read the complete item name.

Do the menu stars mean best sellers?

The PDF legend identifies Nom Wah exclusive items. It does not establish sales rankings, tasting results or the best dish for your preferences.

Can I use the symbols as an allergy guarantee?

No. The menu asks diners to discuss restrictions and warns about preparation cross-contact. Confirm wrappers, sauces and handling with staff; a symbol does not certify safety.
