Three ways to choose an anju

Anju is food served alongside drinks; these choices compare ingredients, not popularity.

Shrimp powder in a vegetable pancake

Potato & Zucchini Jeon

The official list also includes scallion, chili, onion and carrot, with soy dip. The vegetable name is not a complete ingredient list.

Glass noodles with egg

Mushroom Japchae

The official entry names maitake, shiitake and oyster mushrooms with glass noodles and a poached egg. Compare this noodle format with Tokbokki’s rice cakes.

Rice cakes and chili cream

Seafood Rosé Tokbokki

The official list includes shrimp, mussels, squid, Parmesan and Korean chili pepper cream sauce. Rosé here names the sauce direction, not a glass of rosé wine.

Choose the dish format first

Read what accompanies the headline ingredient.

  1. 01

A vegetable title can include seafood

Potato & Zucchini Jeon lists shrimp powder. Mushroom Japchae lists glass noodles and a poached egg. If either ingredient matters, ask about that specific dish rather than relying on its vegetable title.

  2. 02

Distinguish noodles, rice cakes and rice

Japchae uses glass noodles; Rosé Tokbokki uses rice cakes, seafood and chili cream sauce; Uni Bibimbap is a rice dish. Choose the format as well as the topping.

  3. 03

Decide whether you want a sharing centerpiece

The official sharing section includes a whole fried chicken, braised short rib and pork shank. Compare these with a small anju instead of treating every entry as the same course size.

Questions about Osamil’s menu

Are the vegetable-named dishes automatically vegan?

No. Jeon lists shrimp powder, Japchae lists egg, and the endive/pear salad includes Manchego. Ask about full preparation and modifications.
