Yunnan Kitchen menu: chewy rice cakes, crisp potatoes or cold lemon chicken?

Stir Fried Rice Cake is a savory pork-and-egg dish. Yunnan Potato Pancake puts shredded potato into a crisp pancake. Lemon Shredded Chicken is served cold with lemon, chili oil and herbs. Those are three different starting points for reading this menu.

Choose a preparation, not just a familiar ingredient

These examples highlight specific differences; no bestseller or tasting claims are made.

Savory sliced rice cake with pork and egg

Stir Fried Rice Cake 大救驾(炒饵块)

The operator lists sliced rice cake stir-fried with pickled mustard greens, minced pork, egg and tomato. Choose this direction for a rice-cake dish; “rice cake” here does not mean a sweet dessert or plain rice.

Crisp shredded potato pancake

Yunnan Potato Pancake 干煸洋芋丝

The operator describes a crisp shredded-potato pancake. Compare it with Grandma’s Potato, described as coarsely mashed potato with seasonings: the difference is preparation, even though both names mean potato dishes.

A cold chicken dish with lemon and chili oil

Lemon Shredded Chicken 柠檬手撕鸡

The operator explicitly says cold and lists shredded chicken, lemon, chili oil and herbs, plus a nut notice. Choose by that cold, citrus-and-chili combination rather than expecting a hot lemon chicken sauce. Check ingredients with staff if they affect your order.

Read similar names as different choices

Rice, potato and pea flour each appear in more than one form.

  1. 01

Separate savory rice cake from the milk accompaniment

The stir-fried erkuai dish lists pork, egg and pickled greens. Yunnan Style Rice Pancake instead lists sticky-rice-based pancakes served with condensed milk. Decide which direction you want before using the English words “rice pancake” as a shortcut.

  2. 02

Compare cold pea jelly with its fried counterpart

The reviewed ordering menu lists Pea Jelly Salad as cold, with nuts and spice, and Dali Fried Pea Jelly as crisp pea-flour jelly. These are preparation alternatives, not a promise that both are available today.

  3. 03

    Choose the herb-and-protein combination deliberately

Mint Beef pairs beef with fresh mint; Lemon Shredded Chicken pairs cold chicken with lemon, chili oil and herbs. Compare those actual combinations instead of assuming all Yunnan dishes share the same sauce.

Questions before choosing

Is the stir-fried rice cake meat-free?

The operator lists minced pork and egg alongside pickled mustard greens and tomato. The rice-cake ingredient alone does not make it meat-free.

Is Lemon Shredded Chicken served hot?

The reviewed operator description explicitly calls it a cold dish with lemon, chili oil and herbs.

Are Yunnan Potato Pancake and Yunnan Style Rice Pancake the same?

No. The former uses shredded potato; the latter is sticky-rice-based and served with condensed milk in the reviewed description.
